City of Brenham Election Information
General Election May 6, 2017

The May 6, 2017 General Election has been canceled due to having unopposed candidates for each of the four council positions. Please see the Certification of Unopposed Candidates (English and Spanish) and the Order Canceling the Election (English and Spanish).
A General Election will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017. The citizens of Brenham will be electing one Council-member for Place 1 - Ward 1; one Council-member for Place 3 - Ward 3; one Council-member for Place 5 - At Large; and one Council-member for Place 6 - At Large all for a four (4) year term.

To run for City Council you must: (1) have been a resident of the City and any Ward you wish to represent for a period of 12 months immediately preceding the election; (2) be at least 21 years of age, when elected; (3) not be indebted to the City; and (4) not be interested in the sale to the City of any supplies, equipment, materials or articles.
APPLICATION FOR A PLACE ON THE BALLOT
Applications for a place on the May 6, 2017 General Election ballot will be accepted by the City Secretary, during normal business hours, beginning at on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 through Friday, February 17, 2017. The filing deadline on February 17, 2017 is 5:00 p.m. Candidate packets for the General Election will be available for pick-up in the City Secretary's office, during normal business hours, starting on Monday, January 9, 2017.
