Drought Status Reduced
March 2012

In September of 2011 the City of Brenham initiated Stage 1 of its Drought Contingency Plan. This stage of the plan asked for customers to voluntarily reduce water consumption. At that time, Lake Somerville had experienced its lowest level at 228.67. This was 9.33 feet below "normal" elevation of 238.00.

The Lake level continued to drop and hit a record low of 227.59 on December 13th 2011. however, throughout the last few months the Lake Somerville watershed area has received substantial rainfall. This rainfall has brought the lake up to its current level of 237.20 as of 03/12/2012.

Due to these rain events and the level of the lake the City of Brenham is terminating its Stage 1 Drought restrictions and returning the water system to a normal status.

The City of Brenham still encourages smart water use and would like to thank its customers for the superb job of water conservation during those stressful times.
